I want to be able to change these dynamically based on data in the json payload. Currently this is not possible, as they expect a string/boolean.

    Sorry - this is not something that DataTables currently does: see this FAQ.

    I hope to introduce it in the next major version.

    Thanks for the reply. I'm aware this isn't currently available - I just wanted to get the feature request in. I found a workaround for my current needs. DataTables is great!

    Ah - thanks! I've chalked up one more vote for it. Its something I frequently want to use myself as well!
