In IE8.0 (not the 8.1 incremental upgrade), the header height doesn't match for the fixed and the scrolling columns. This is also true for some of the row heights, as well, but it's most obvious for the header.
This does not appear to be a problem for IE7 or IE9, or for the upgrade to IE8.1. It may be solvable by adding a line break to the end of the text for one of the column headers (in the fixed portion, where it's shorter), but I'd hate to have to do this for every instance of datatables that we're using.
